It's possible to take a knife away from someone and not get cut.  This
contradicts what I've heard from just about every reputable martial arts
expert I've consulted.

The way I think about knife fighting is this.  Imagine that I'm holding an
uncapped black sharpie permanent marker.  You're wearing an expensive white
tuxedo.  Do you REALLY think there's a reasonable chance that you can get
the marker away from me without getting ink on your clothes or your hands?
