Tall house = body.
Top floor = head.
You & Wife = Your and wife's souls/minds.

> We were still married, though apparently her employer didn't
> know that. She was a governess or something, taking care of
> the kid who lived in her house.

Employer = You, the dreamer. Specifically, your morality.

This is also an exploration of "though we are married and know
one another, can we ever *really* know one another" or in the
terms of the dream "live in the same house."

Governess & kid = Are you two trying to have kids? Is it an
issue?

> I could get into her room by going across the balcony. (The
> houses were very close.)

Across the balcony = Sex, kissing, conversation. Love.

> So there's this kind of Cathy/Heathcliffe thing working
> between us where we want to be together but, for whatever
> reason, we can't tell her employer we're married.

Cathy/Heathcliffe = Romance, plus the vibe of "not meant to be."
Again, are kids an issue?

Furthermore: Heathcliffe is a tragic, unsympathetic figure. Do
you have issues over your suitability as a father? Or of the
nature of your personality? Heathcliffe was a lower-class orphan
gypsy-boy who rose to be the iron-handed master of Wuthering
Heights. Interesting self-identification.

> Plus, she had a tattoo between her breasts. It was one of
> those "visible woman" anatomical models.

Visible Woman = Stuff going on inside. Like, the uterus. Indeed,
the "pregnant visible woman" shows a fetus.

Between the breasts = sexually-titilating (hah!) area, an
intimate area. Breasts also produce milk for feeding, back to
children.

> Interpretations, anyone?

You and your wife want to have children, you have doubts about
your qualities as a father and doubts about whether you and your
wife "should" have children.

What do you think?
