[UA] In media res

   I've mentioned this before on the list, but...one of the most effective
things I ever did IMUAC was kick off a session by turning to the Tough
Guy's player and saying:

   "Roll initiative."
   "Huh?"
   "Roll initiative."
   "What, are we fighting someone?"
   "Right.  The big fat sweaty shaved guy wins initiative and leaps at
you. 'RAAARGH!'"

   The players still talk about that one.  (The rest of the game intercut
between that scene--a wrestling exhibition--and the story of how that
character came to be participating--he'd been trying to start a side
career as a pro wrestler for several sessions.)
