Well, I'm slightly more than 1000 miles (I live in Ottawa
Canada), and the only one on your list that I've heard of
is the Golden Gate Bridge.
The City itself is famous as the "City of Love". I suspect
that every city calls itself the ___ city or the city of ___.
The only US cities that I can give even that much info on
is LA and the Big Apple.
Silicon Valley is certainly famous enough, but I work in
high Tech, and I can't even list which major companies are
Headquartered there.
The big problem with Cliomancy, as I see it, is that the
whole "famous" issue is VERY subjective (and more than a
little American-centric).
I doubt that there is a single site in Canada that an
average man-on-the-street in the US could successfully
identify.
