Oooh, this is an interesting suggestion.  Like many ideas, its great
strength is its great weakness.  The strength is: Since no one's likely to
know much about these towns, the writer has great freedom to do what he
wants and to fudge like all get-out.  The weakness is: Since no one's
likely to know much about these towns, they lack the resonance and
importance of "Las Vegas" or "Denver."
