Oh, man, if you want the will-to-survive root feeling, you
should just stick the root chakra in the middle of Nowhere,
Idaho. Washington, Idaho, and Montana are notorious for
the Survivalist crowd. Though the philosophies of some
Survivalists are extremely out there, you have to respect
their will to live and survival moxie.
If I was trapped on a desert island, I'd rather have one of
those guys with me than any of my open-minded, liberal
friends. Of course, that's assuming I don't get some nut
who thinks I'm going to steal his coconuts and ship them to
my Communist compatriots.
BTW, I saw a fascinating show about a Brit named Louis
Thoreau exploring the subcultures of America. He spent a
weekend in Idaho visiting the different Survivalist groups.
Some were just nice, honest folks who wanted nothing to do
with the government or the urban areas. Some were paranoid
fucks. One was even called Aryan Nation.
You can check out more of this bizarre show at

I saw an episode where he checked out the Evangelical
groups in the south. According to that web site, there are
also some episodes dealing with the porn industry, the
black nationalists, struggling actors, and more.
