Somebody posted this on

about UNBREAKABLE and it sums up why I liked the movie.
"What was way, WAY more important to me, far more meaningful,
was that while superhero comics were hardly 'honored,' the
ethics, morals and ideals that their characters STAND for
WERE--and were played straight, without any sort of mocking or
cynicism, and as an ideal towards which to strive."
That's a sentiment I can agree with wholeheartedly, and one I'd
like to bring to my UA campaigns (and fiction writing).
However, sometimes reading this list, it sounds like most
people's campaigns focus more on nihilism or anti-heroism.
How present is heroism-- from the smallest interpersonal gesture
to the world-shakingist last-minute save of the planet-- in your
UA campaigns?
And, just FYI from www.m-w.com
her·o·ism :
1 : heroic conduct especially as exhibited in fulfilling a high
purpose or attaining a noble end
2 : the qualities of a hero
he·ro:
1 c : a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities
1 d : one that shows great courage
cour·age:
mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand
danger, fear, or difficulty
synonyms COURAGE, METTLE, SPIRIT, RESOLUTION, TENACITY mean
mental or moral strength to resist opposition, danger, or
hardship. COURAGE implies firmness of mind and will in the face
of danger or extreme difficulty <the courage to support
unpopular causes>. METTLE suggests an ingrained capacity for
meeting strain or difficulty with fortitude and resilience <a
challenge that will test your mettle>. SPIRIT also suggests a
quality of temperament enabling one to hold one's own or keep up
one's morale when opposed or threatened <her spirit was unbroken
by failure>. RESOLUTION stresses firm determination to achieve
one's ends <the resolution of pioneer women>. TENACITY adds to
RESOLUTION implications of stubborn persistence and
unwillingness to admit defeat <held to their beliefs with great
tenacity>.
