[UA] A godwalker duel

Yes, we're all sick of it by now. Blame it on Statosphere, which I just started reading.

Ordinarily, the Occult Underground stays out of mundane politics. But this year, the current presidential election is a mystic battle between two men who aspire to become Godwalker of The Heir to the Throne. One represents the Dutiful Son side of the archetype, while the other represents the Playboy. Gore has strengthened his side by becoming the Heir not only to his father's legacy, but also the heir to Bill Clinton, while Bush has the clearer link as Heir to the White House, as a president's son. This can be seen in their platforms: Gore's insistence that he'll work for you, while Bush promises the dispensing of money. Neither man wants to be President so much as they're seeking the symbolic enthroning. The battle between these two sides of the archetype was previously described by Shakespeare, in Henry IV, in the conflict between Hotspur (the dutiful son) and Prince Hal (the playboy). Given that popular culture favors the playboy over the dutiful son, expect Bush to win in !

the end--but the Dutiful Son side might overtake him, as the culture half expects the playboy to settle down. Bush may have to take over aspects of the dutiful son to maintin his Godwalker status.

Most of the players in the Underground are staying out of this battle. They don't care who the president is, but choosing the right side in this mystical battle may boost their personal power. Dermott Arkane is certainly floating around, and Alex Able has been making contributions to his favored candidate.
