Reminds me a lot of "The Dream of a Thousand Cats."  It would also explain
all those dumb-ass dwarf last names like "Gutripper" and "AleChugger"; in
those societies, that IS an archetype to strive towards.  See, back before
we made a distinction between job and career, your job was your life, and
Ghod help you if you weren't born to do it.

Interesting.  So a religion has a figurehead, and you strive to be like that
figurehead.  Explains the whole Cleric thing rather nicely--legions and
legions of godwalkers.
