Actually, this raises my hopes for the average American
viewer. I'd rather see films like these become successful
rather than tripe like Jurassic Park II *shudder*
Amen to that. Still, there are a number of higher-quality art films out
there than either Sixth Sense or Unbreakable. But I'll certainly concede to
the point that I didn't mind the Sixth Sense slavering half as much as I
minded the Titanic slavering.
I warned someone that she might not like Unbreakable. I
said that it was even more ponderous than The Sixth Sense.
Maybe she though "ponderous" means "cool." She said she
almost fell asleep. Ah well, so much for raising my hopes.
I use the "does my ass hurt yet?" theory of film going. If my ass starts
hurting, then I'm not fully engaged in the film. My ass hurt the entire way
through Unbreakable (although I still thought it was a decent flick).
Strangely, my ass didn't hurt at all during Charlie's Angels but that may
have been due to the fact that I kept turning to my fellow filmgoers and
making snide comments.

Okay, I'm the guilty one who brought this up. I actually
wanted to encourage people to go see it because it does a
great job of portraying someone trying to maintain normalcy
in the face of extraordinary events.
By denying it?
I could easily see a
character like what Bruce Willis played (damn, forgot the
character's name).
John Dunn, I think.
After all, UA must be full of people trying to live their 9
to 5 jobs and forget that they just watched a giant penis
slither down the alley.
Yeah, I'm still trying to forget that I even saw that picture.
