Well, he should be making plenty of Self and/or Unnatural checks for that too.  I thought the whole idea was that Nature screwed up and acidentally missed a few of its laws (like, say, when you're dead you go behind the vale) which would be decidely against how nature's supposed to be (or rather, against how the viewer expects nature to be), thus the Unnatural checks.
