It's happened before for other offices, just not for senator.  (there's a line in one of the bios for the creators of Sandman: Season of the Mists about a guy being posthumously elected to the House, I think, and his jawbone being on display at the Smithsonian)

Chicago gave the dead the right to vote in 1960, so why not let them run for office?  I'm all for a dead rights movement.
