[OT][UA] Your country, it scares me.

The problem I heard was the huge number of disqualified ballots -- did I
correctly hear 19,000? certainly a large enough money to swing the election
in any case -- in Palm Beach County.  Disqualified and thrown out because
Buchanan and Gore both were punched.  Like someone realized their mistake,
and tried to correct it, but got their ballot thrown out instead.  This
compares to something like 3200 ballots voted for Buchanan (which the radio
reports this morning that Buchanan himself believes were in error).

The wild-ass conspiracy theorist might say that Jeb Bush's minions punched
the second holes to spoil the ballots, with the "hey, must be they were
confused by the layout" story to provide cover... and this is why the news
orgs correctly called the state for Gore early on, based on exit polls,
before the "fix" could come through... ;)

On a serious note, the next president is going to have some severe
mandate/legitimacy issues however all this sorts out.  Which may be exactly
what the electorate wants, since we seem to like gridlock.
