My theory is that JFK's death was accidental.  They were actually shooting
at Jackie to try to stop her from ascending to the IC as the archetype of
the
First Lady.  She must have had some form of avatar ability of "Let Your King
Take The Fall", which might explain why the shots got more and more accurate
rather than wilder as more shots were quickly fired.

Sometimes unknowingly being an Avatar can be a real bitch...

As I see it, there must be groups out there trying to kill anyone that they 
suspect will ascend in an attempt to avoid the End of the World.
