I'm not sure how John does it, but I increase the
experience gain by giving my players more experience than
recommended in the book. I would give out more than 10 in
a session.

I did that because I wasn't satisfied with the skills
people had. The rules for skills are good if someone is
going to concentrate on only a few skills. However, my
players like to diversify. One player only put two points
in his "Playing darts" skill because skill points were a
rare commodity.

It didn't even occur to me to raise the base skills to 25.
That's brilliant.

On avatars: In general, I would say that having a high
skill necessitates being aware of the power. I can imagine
someone like the Fool being a godwalker and not even be
aware of it (how's that for the archetypical Fool?).

However, when all that funky stuff goes on (like the
Boogeyman able to jump from closet to closet), it's pretty
hard to not realize that something is amiss.

However, maybe they even accept the supernatural as
ordinary. After all, I have excellent math skills while
most people flounder at it. I just consider myself lucky
to be one of those people. I would never attribute it to
something supernatural. What if the Boogeyman just figured
he could tap into closets because it's natural.
