BUt one of the unique traits of the setting is that things are seldom as
they seem, PARTICULARLY in regard to things that seem obviously
supernatural. Vampires are really old inbred Eastern Europeans. Cattle
mutilations are nasty parasites. So it goes. Because there's no royal road
to ascension (emulating a Godwalker tends to be a hit or miss proposition,
with the first steps being easy, but the later steps becoming more and more
difficult to get quite right), things that were obviously Ascensions
probably aren't. What was so unique about the Naked Goddess' ascension?
Wasn't it just like every other taping? Did she hit a magic number of
takes, or tapes, or partners, or orgasms? Alex Abel's trying to find out,
but I think that the closer he gets to that, the farther he gets from the
IC. After all, the NG wasn't trying to be herself when she ascended--she
was consciously or unconsciously striving towards an ideal. People trying
to emulate the life of the NG may wake up one morning to find themselves not
WECHBY, but rather a drugged out, sexed out miserable specimen of humanity.
