Okay, I've got one:

Jimmy Hoffa.  Rewatch Mamet's "Hoffa," and you'll see a man who was the
union, just as the union was him.  A simple card with his signature on the
back got the possessor carte blanche.  He was able to go toe-to-toe with
presidents and mobsters, and it can honestly be said that, with his
disappearance, the state of organized labor in America has never been the
same.

Oh, and there is that matter of his disappearance, isn't there?
