I typed up a rather long response to this, then realised that debating the
merits of AD&D vs UA is not off topic but pointless.  So I'll just say that
while there are people out there that like AD&D, it's not the system for me.
Some people enjoy games that are combat heavy, I'm trying to get away from
that.  Running (and playing in) a non-combat based game requires more creative
effort from both players and GM, but IMO is worth it.
