[UA] Perception of Pain

Admittedly, I have a pretty high pain tolerance, so this story may not be 
applicable...

I had a piece of pipe penetrate the palm of my hand.  I fell while holding 
it, my hand hit the end of it.  It broke the skin, scraped along the bone, 
and looked pretty messy all in all.

It was strange.  I was aware I had been hurt, but not aware of any sense of 
pain.  I calmly walked to a phone, called my insurance company to find out 
where I had coverage, and drove myself to the emergency room.

I didn't really feel anything until the doctor put in the stitches.  That 
hurt like hell.

I was also surprised by the lack of blood.
