Perhaps less useful than a busted lip is the time my back went out. I
was laid up for two weeks, unable to walk, and barely able to stand. That's
a hard pain to describe because it's simultaneously incredibly sharp, like
someone's driven a railroad spike into your vertebrae, but also diffuse,
causing a dull ache all over the lower back, with occasional flares of pain
in other places. When you try to stand, it feels like your spine is being
crushed in a vise. If someone got cracked in the back with a pipe, let's
say, that's what it might feel like.
------
I can confirm this. A wrestling injury. It felt like someone had you spine
in their hands, and every move you made caused them to clamp down tighter.
I got this from having someone dive on top of me while stumbling backwards.
Folded me over backwards, knocked the air out of me, and left me lying on
the ground groaning uncontrollably for about a minute, until my lungs
expanded again. Hurts like the dickens, that does.
