There's the mysterious injury I suffered as a boy of thirteen or so. I 
was riding a bike and had some kind of a spill. When I looked around, I 
was lying on my back beneath a tree and there was a largish puncture 
wound in my leg--but no sign of what caused it. To this day I've got a 
shiny mass of scar tissue there an inch and a quarter long by half an 
inch wide. The radiating scars from the stitches make it look something 
like a large white insect, perhaps a spider.
