My only real comment is that I think, instead of his driving being by the book, it mores matches the style (though not quality) of other drivers on the road (sort of his empathy working its way into the rst of his life).  So if you have everyone on the road driving like maniacs, he will too, but if he's passing a grandmother's convention, he'll move really slow and carefully.  Put him in the middle of a Nascar race, and he'd drive ridiculously fast.  The catch is that he's not any better at driving, just more or less willing to make difficult moves based on his surroundings.  

I figure this would be really subtle (and maybe could be applied to his other skills as well, to varying degrees).  Most of the time, he'll drive normally.  But when the PCs need him to drive the getaway car as they're being chased from the nursing home by 2 unspeakable horros, the Freak and a dozen members of The New Inquisition, it might affect the outcome.
