So, who is this Tim Powers geek, anyway?

Other books:(Which I can't categorize cause I haven't read em yet)
The Drawing of the Dark
Dinner at Deviant's Palace

Both fine books, although not necesarily as pertinent to UA as some of his
latter books.
_Drawing_ has been mentioned on the list before, so I won't go into it
much. One could draw inspiration from it for Avatars (the lead character
is sort of an avatar of King Arthur) and the Fisher King (a favorite of
this list, apparently).
_Dinner_ I think is underrated. I thought it was fun. Post-holocaust
magic based on radiation. And the dinner itself is a great scene. UA
inspiration can be gleaned from the thoroughly creepy mechanical men.

Not strictly fantasy, more adventure with sci-fi trappings, is _Inherit the
Sky_ (which I believe has been published under another title as well).
It's his first work, which he wrote in college. He says in the
introduction something about "Rub a pencil over any page of this book and
you'll see the name 'Rafael Sabatini'," and it's very true. Lots of
swashbuckling good fun. If you're one of those people who wish Sabatini
had written more books, read this one.
