For what it's worth:
I'm one of those people -- if I saw "[some game I've never played] LARP",
vs. "[some game I've never played] tabletop session", I'd take the
tabletop session, hands-down. Why? Dunno. I think I feel I'd be more
comfortable RPing at a table rather than LARPing.
Regardless, this may not be actual useful information, 'cause I'd be
unlikely to play a game at a convention in any case. (I value the
intimacy of a close group of friends more than I value the game itself --
I'd play a mediocre game with a good group of friends before I'd play UA
with a bunch of people I don't know.)
Just a data point for you.
