Although I love live-action gaming (really all I do now except UA and CoC),
even I would have to agree that at a convention I would be more comfortable
trying a "new" table-top game over a "new" live-action game. Maybe it's just
the familiarity. God knows that I sat around a table for many more years
than I walked around a hotel.

I also enjoy the value of a small group of players far more than I enjoy
gaming at conventions. There's really only 3 reason I would go to a
convention and run a game there:
1. I like to browse the booths of the game companies, pawing the newest
goodies they offer.
2. I'm selfish...See, I like UA and I want them to keep putting out source
material. I know they will as long as people buy it, but will stop if people
don't. I can do SOMETHING to make people want to buy it so I run 3 games of
UA at GenCon. If I do it right 24 people go buy the UA rules from the Atlas
booth. John and Greg smile. John and Greg write more UA stuff. I get to read
more UA stuff.
3. This one is the most important: Since I am always the one who runs the
damn game, there is little opportunity for me to play anything. I look
forward to the opportunity to play in games that are run by good and bad
GM's, as both can be extremely useful learning experiences. I once played in
a Vampire table-top game at GenCon that was soooo bad it almost made me
physically sick. But, I learned quite a bit from that GM...on what NOT to
do.

Thanks, appreciated.
