Dear Christina,

Yes, it works for me as well. Thank you for letting me know.

Dear Cem,

I'm not sure what causes this, but after importing the idf in TRNBuild click save on the b18 file before opening TRNView, that should fix the issue.
I successfully tested it with your idf, but let me know if it works for you.

Best regards,
Christina

I would think so, yes. Keep an eye on the wall, floor, roof, and ceiling areas in TRNBuild. If any of them look abnormally large or small then that would be a red flag.

kind regards,

 David

David,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I followed your instructions to export the .idf file from TRNBuild. After that, I opened the new .idf file in SketchUp. The building was not distorted. This situation leads me to believe that there might be a problem with the interaction between TRNViewBUI and the .idf file. Is it possible to say it is safe to use the .idf file for further simulation studies?

Regards,

Cem

[External Email]

Cem,

I have not run into this kind of problem before. However, the *.idf looks fine. One thing you might try is to open the *.b18 file in TRNBuild and select "export Trnsys3D file..." from the File menu. That will create a new *.idf file based on the geometry that TRNBuild understands. The distorted view looks as though one of the wall vertices might have gotten written incorrectly. Once the new *.idf is created open it in SketchUp; if the building is distorted then try reimporting the original *.idf (the one you attached) into TRNBuild.

kind regards,

 David

Hi All,

I created a 3D building model(see attached) using the TRNSYS 3D plugin on Sketchup. I imported the .idf file into the TRNBuild. After that, I checked the surfaces in the GUI, and I couldn't find any problems. However, when I checked the 3D building model in the trnViewBUI extension, the model was highly distorted(see attached). I am not sure if there was an error in the .idf file or the TRNViewBUI extension. Has anyone encountered a problem like this before?

Regards,

Cem
