[TRNSYS-users] selective glazin windows

Karol,

The modelling selective window in TRNSYS works great.
Type 56 has implemented a 2-band model (visual and non-visual band), but for special glazing you would need you need a 3-band.
However, if solar radiation is passing through one selective glazing (e.g. on external window without reflecting internal shading) the results are fine even if there is no 3-band model. (see attachment referring to TRNSYS 18). If solar radiation is passing through more than one selective glazing "in series", the results aren't correct.

The workflow would be to generate the data with in Berkley Lab WINDOW. (see section 09-Tutorials.pdf)
I'm not sure if the single layers of the glazing system you have in mind are available in glazing data base of Berkley Lab Window.
If not you would need to apply Berkley Lab OPTICS to create the single layer data and import in Berkley Lab Window.

I always suggest to use TRNSYS 18 because new spectral standard files of TRNSYS 18 (TRNSYS18.std and TRNSYS18_evis.ssp) are used for generating window with data Berkley Lab Window. In these files, the integral characteristic of transmittance and reflectance for the visible range is based on the energy spectrum required by the 2 band solar radiation model of Type 56. For most other standard files available for the program Window, these integral characteristics for the visible wave lengths do not represent the entire visible range, owing to spectral sensitivity of the human eye.

Kind regards,

Marion

Dear All,

Do some of you have experience with modelling selective glazing (widows) in TRNSYS18 or 17?

Best,
Karol

Subject: selective glazin windows

Dear Exerts,

I would like to model building with selective glazing (widows): diffusion of UV and partially reflection of IR.

  1. Is such glazing in Library?
  2. or I need to model it in https://windows.lbl.gov/software/window?
  3. or maybe I can modify manually some windows from library to get this properties?

Is there some difference between TRNSYS 17 an 18 in this issues?

Kind regards,
Karol Bandurski
