Based on that equation, I would think that the efficiency would go to zero whenever there is not output from the PV panel (ie every night). It is not entirely clear from the picture but are you basing the efficiency on the integrated amount of energy produced by the panel? If that is the case then the result would go to zero whenever the integrator is reset. If an integrator is set to have a -1 integration period then it integrates monthly.
