[TRNSYS-users] Components -> nested cycles

Dear all,

I want to create a component for a new type. In this component, the future user will be able to choose the number of layers s/he wants to examine. This can easily be implemented by a circle that is associated to a question or a parameter (How many layers?). However, each layer can consist of either a solid, a gaseous or a fluid material. Therefore, a second and a third cycle is necessary in order to display or hide the specific parameter fields necessary to define these different types of materials. It seems that TRNSYS allows me to create such nested cycles, however, if I run the component its behavior is quite weird. For example, even though I associated the secondondary cycle with a parameter (that depends on the primary cycle), sometimes a second question is displayed below the parameter field. Also, displaying and hiding the respective fields does not work consistently.

Question is: are nested cycles possible to implement? Is there a standard type with nested cycles I could check ? Any other suggestions ?

Thanks and best regards
Jörn
