[TRNSYS-users] Number range for user type in TRNSYS 17

David,

We developed many types in the range between 900 and 999 as they were not reserved. Now we have to disable some TESS dll or recompile them without types that cause problems.

We think that the best solution for us is to rename our types with other numbers. Do you think that it is possible to reserve a range for user type developer and give us the range (in order to avoid to do the job twice or more...) ?

Thanks a lot
Best Regards,

Cédric,
The short answer to your question is that as far as I am aware, Type numbers between 801 and 900 are still unused by commercial Types. Between 201 and 300 is also safe!

Technically in TRNSYS 16, the user types were intended to be between 151 and 200 (Programmer's Guide pg 8-23) and 800-999 were not reserved. However, there were a number of standard Types between 151 and 200 so we didn't do a very good job of respecting our own suggestions!

You are correct that with Trnsys17, Type numbers up to 9999 are allowed. The TESS Libraries have spilled over their originally allotted space and now cover from 501 to 799 and from 901 up to about 2300 (of course not all numbers are used in there!).
Kind regards,
 David

Dear TRNSYS Users,

We were using TRNSYS 16 and also developing type. In this previous version, type numbers between 800 and 999 were reserved for user types.

With the new version of TRNSYS 17 and also TESS, there are some types in this range of number and also over 1000. Is there an official number range for user type in TRNSYS 17 in order to avoid to have the same number as commercialized type ? What is the maximum number allowed ?

Best regards,
Cédric Paulus
