[TRNSYS-users] LEED certification

Christophe,
Yes, TRNSYS complies with Section G2.2 including the requirements of
Standard 140. We have used TRNSYS successfully in about 15 LEED projects
(one of which was LEED-NC 2009). The "BEPS" and "BEPU" documents are
default reports that are produced by DOE2 (and are therefore easily
obtained and submitted if you use eQuest). They group all of the
building's energy use into a few categories and then report totals for
each category on a monthly basis. For example, you would have a report
item for the monthly space heating requirements of all the devices in
the building that provide space heat. As I am sure you know, TRNSYS does
not have any default reports like that so I use Type46 in the mode where
it produces both an hourly and monthly integrated output file. I then
take those result files and paste them into an Excel spreadsheet that I
use to summarize it all for LEED. For example, I would send the
compressor power used by each heat pump in the system when in heating
mode to the Type46 printegrator seperately. I would then use Excel to
sum up all of the compressor power in heating mode for all of the heat
pumps in the building. I have had a few reviewers ask for the default
reports so I include an explanation in my energy model narrative
explaining my process. I have posted my Excel sheets for the reviewer to
see in a few cases.
Best,
  David
