TRNSYS can read energyplus weather files as well as TMY2 (also various 
other formats as well). If you are using Trnsys16 you can read 
energyplus weather files using Type89 and process the radiation data 
with Type16. If you are using Trnsys17 then Type15 both reads and 
processes E+ weather files.

*.tm2 files are text. If you obtain the file format (showing which 
columns in the data file pretain to which values) then you can open the 
files in Excel and adjust the column delimiters so that editing is easy. 
The TMY2 file format is described in NREL's TMY2 documentation:

Type56's outputs are more generally energy balance outputs (total 
convective gains to the airnodes of a zone, radiation gains from a 
particular surface). When I need to give the gains from lighting, 
equipment, etc. to the space and I also care about the power use of 
those things then typically, I set up the Type56 gains as inputs to the 
model and I write equations in the TRNSYS Studio to set the values of 
the gains at any given point in time. Those same equations also give me 
the energy consumption of those devices.

Again it is easiest to do this outside of Type56 and then pass the 
appropriate values in to Type56 via an input. There are various schedule 
components available in the add-on TESS Libraries Applications Library. 
You can also set up a Type14 forcing function for scheduling in standard 
TRNSYS.

TRNBuild does not currently have a method for saving schedules for reuse 
in other projects.
