[TRNSYS-users] Type for VAV system

Christian,
We do have a VAV model that mimics the way the DOE2 does VAV. I have
used it in three LEED projects and the results have been accepted. The
model commercially available among the individual TESS components. The
reason that it is not in the TESS HVAC Component Library is that VAV
controls seem to vary widely from one application to the next. In one
case, the controls called for a humidity sensor in the return air stream
and some steam injection if the RH was too low. In another the whole
building's distribution air was cooled to 12.8C and then heating was
provided at the terminal boxes. In another, the heating was centralized.
In some cases I have found one central variable speed fan while in
others, the fan power is at the terminal boxes. There is so much
variability in VAV systems that writing one model that covers all of VAV
is quite difficult.
Kind regards,
David
