Hi,
I want to simulate lithium ion battery and I think that I have to do some modification on an existing type, am I right? David, would you send me the paper, please?
Thank you very much,
Carol Pascual

Dimas,
I am not sure that changing the cell voltage is valid. I think that the Shepherd model assumes a certain shape to the battery's charge / discharge curve that is inherent to lead acid batteries and not as valid to other battery types. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about that.
Best,
 David

Dear David and Maria,

I'm also doing simulation that required different type of battery from the existing battery type available in TRNSYS library,
I need to simulate 12V battery bank, that consist of 4 @12V 100Ah battery. Type 47b in TRNSYS library have a default voltage value of 2,5V each cell, Can I simply change this value? or do I need to make some other modification for this component?
David, I'd like to read the paper you've offered to maria, would you send me also?

Thank you very much

Maria,
You are correct that the battery models in TRNSYS are for lead-acid cells. I was directed to a paper some years ago that suggested a method for modeling lithium-ion batteries. The method comes down to curve fitting the data that you get from a manufacturer's catalog into a few polynomials. I had a hard time following the some parts of the paper and never got a chance to implement the model but it seemed to me as though the method could be extended to other battery types. I'll forward you the paper in a separate email. If anyone else has seen some modeling research in this area, I'd be quite interested in hearing about it to improve on the existing battery models.
Best,
 David

Hi,

I´d need to know if there is a model of Li-Ion Battery or if I´m able to characterize any kind of battery using an existing type (in spite of being lead-acid battery).
Thank you very much!
Maria
