[TRNSYS-users] Active layer dividing

David,
the reason why type 56 may calculates a slightly smaller required min.
mass flow rate than TRNBuild is
due to different heat transfer coefficients (laminar/ turbulent).
If you get this error message I suggest to check your actual flow that
is used in your TRNSYS simulation
and NOT the min. desired inlet mass flowrate in TRNbuild!
Kind regards,
Marion

Wang,
I have seen this happen before as well; where the inlet mass flow rate
is above the required minimum but yet you still get an error saying that
the flow is too low. I worked with Transsolar on tracking down the cause
of the problem and we were never able to. I try to keep the inlet mass
flow rate at least 10 to 20% higher than the minimum flow rate. Adrien's
response is a good one; use the autosegment feature to break your floor
up into two or more floor segments in series and your minimum specific
flow rate will drop far enough below the 5.4 kg/h.m2 that you are
sending it.
Kind regards,
David

Dear all,
I defined a active layer, but it shows ERROR as follows:
Fatal Error at time : 0.350000
Generated by Unit : 4
Generated by Type : 56
Message : Specific fluid mass flow of active layer in
surface 7 below minimum value of 5.35 kg/m2h Please, increase the
minimum mass flow rate or use the autosegmentation feature of TRNBuild
for subdividing the surface.
But the min. allowed inlet mass flowrate is 5.37 kg/m2h, I defined the
min. desired inlet mass flowrate is 5.4 kg/m2h.
The ATTACHED is the detailed setting of ACTIVE LAYER SPECIFICATION.
Please have a look and tell me how to correctly define them?
Please tell me how to increase the minimum mass flow rate? Where is it
in detail? I want to get only one surface not dividing it. Please tell
me how to get only one segmentation in detail?
Many thanks!

Aaron,
Type93 will do exactly that.
Best,
David

In the simulation studio I am using the equation feature. For the first
time step, I need a variable in the equation to be some defined constant
value, for the following time step I need that variable to be the output
of another component of the previous time step. Does anyone know how to
do this?
