[TRNSYS-users] TRNSYS for LEED

Lars,
  TRNSYS can be used for LEED certifications. We have successfully 
submitted about 12 projects to the USGBC and I know of at least two 
other companies who have also used TRNSYS for LEED EA credit 1 
submittals. In my experiences, TRNSYS is an ideal tool for such projects 
if the proposed HVAC system cannot be modeled using more conventional 
software. For example, eQuest does not have a radiant floor model but 
TRNSYS does. TRNSYS is good for doing hybrid GHP (both ground bores and 
a cooling tower) I would not recommend using TRNSYS for a LEED project 
that did have a more conventional system (such as VAV) because TRNSYS's 
flexibility in system modeling means that you have to do a lot of work 
to model a complete system. Its worth it for complex HVAC systems and a 
lot of unnecessary work for simpler HVAC systems.
