[TRNSYS-users] Reading weather file TMY

Pei,
In addition to Matt's reply, I think it is worth noting that there are
different versions of the TMY (Typical Meteorological Year) format.
Type109 reads only TMY version 2 files (which are by far the most
common). Type15-1 reads the original TMY version 1 format (it is very
rare to find these files; for one reason, they are in solar time, not
local time). Type15-2 reads TMY version 2 format. There is another mode
of Type15 that will read the recently published TMY version 3 format.
TMY3 files are not in wide use in my experience.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking in your second question. The
Simulation Studio allows the user to create a graphical representation
of the system from which it creates an input file (also called a
"deck"). If you have an existing input file, you can import it into the
Studio using the "File: Import TRNSYS Input File" menu item. Be aware,
however, that if the input file was created by hand, Studio will do its
best to decipher what was intended but there is a lot of room for
"creativity" in how you write an input file by hand that likely will be
very hard for the Studio to interpret. If that is not what you were
asking, perhaps you could clarify and I may be able to provide a better
answer.

Kind regards,
  David
