Dear TRNSYS Community,

On behalf of the TRNSYS Development team, we
are proud to announce the release of the next version of TRNSYS, TRNSYS 17. In
the 35 years of existence, TRNSYS has maintained its status as a flexible
energy simulation tool, and the release of the new version continues that
tradition.

Perhaps the most exciting new feature in
TRNSYS is the implementation of the new three-dimensional building model in
conjunction with the new TRNSYS3D Google SketchUp™ plugin. Users now have the
capabilities to implement multiple “air-node” zones with different options for
detailed radiation and shading. Other new additions include a multi-zone
slab-on-grade ground coupling component model based on the benchmark from the
IEA task 34/43, helpful features in the Simulation Studio (rotating components’
icons, editing a block of equations, and copying and applying connection line
styles), a TMY3 ready Type15 Weather Reader/Radiation Processor, and the
“Printegrator” component. For a more detailed description of the updates, a
document is now available at the following website.

Please contact your local TRNSYS distributor
to obtain your official update to TRNSYS 17. If you would like to try the new
version, a TRNSYS 17 demo version is available at the following website.

TRNSYS is now on facebook! For listing of
events, the latest information, and helpful hints, please visit and become a
“fan” at www.facebook.com/TRNSYS.

If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to contact your local TRNSYS distributor (http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/sales/distributors.html). The current version is 17.00.0018, so if you have received an earlier version, it would be wise to update.

For those of you in the states, have a great holiday weekend!

Best regards,

TRNSYS Development Team
