The TRNSYS 16 building model was non-geometric; when you define a
horizontal surface, the only thing that indicates whether it is a floor
or a ceiling is the condition that you impose on the opposite side of
the surface.

there are a number of radio buttons across the middle of the window. You
still select a zone but then you switch to "surface outputs" and you
will see the available NTYPEs for the surfaces in that zone.

The ceiling of one zone is set as wall type "ADJACENT" and you indicate
the name of the zone above whose floor is the same as that ceiling.

I believe that some of the feedback controller examples
(..trnsys16\Examples\...) show how to use the active layers.
