Patrick,
I think that approach seems solid enough to assess the change in energy
that is being transfered through the window. It doesn't really get at
how that change affects the energy use of the building; ie the load due
to solar may be either a large or a small fraction of the total load and
there isn't really any way of knowing without putting in some kind of
building zone.
