Murielle,
You are correct that when calculating the
shaded radiation falling on a facade, Type34
assumes that the overhang and wing walls are
opaque. However, Type34 also outputs the fraction
of the facade that is shaded and the fraction
that is unshaded. If you were able to define a
translucence for the pergola (in other words the
pergola doesn't fully block the sun but only some
part of it. The translucence would be a measure
of the fraction of sunlight that is allowed
through either when vegetated or unvegetated.)
then I think you could use the Type34 shading
fractions, adjusted for a translucent overhang.
