[TRNSYS-users] Vista

I have been using TRNSYS 16.1 on Vista for several weeks now and everything works fine. In addition to what David wrote, it is helpful to start the TRNExe.exe as Administrator. You can choose to always run TRNSYS as administrator: Right-click the exe in the "Program Files" directory and in "Properties" select something like "Always run as administrator" (I am not quite sure about it, my Vista is in german and right now I am sitting at Win XP). The same would be useful with the Studio. The explanation is, that in Vista writing access to the standard "Programm Files" directory is only permitted for the Administrator. You either can log in as administrator (dangerous!) or start certain programmes with administrator rights (the same as "sudo" in Ubuntu for example).

Best regards,
Timo

Aude,
I am glad for Werner's "official" reply. We have been using TRNSYS 16.01.0000 through 16.01.0003 on Windows Vista a little bit and have not run into any significant problems with it. We did encounter some problems installing TRNSYS on Vista due to read/write permissions that are set on various Windows directories. Our solution was just to run TRNSYS from an administrator account.
Kind regards,
 David

	Hi,

The graphical front end (Simulation Studio) is not officially supported on Vista.
