[TRNSYS-users] Stop heating during summer time

Antoine,
There is an almost limitless number of ways that you can condition your
building and the answer to your question depends a bit upon which way you
choose. The simplest way is to define a TRNBuild heating type directly in
the building. This heating type will ask you to define a set point
temperature for heating, the amount of power available for heating, and
also whether or not there is some associated humidification. When you then
run your building for a year, the Type56 model will report the amount of
energy required to keep the building at the minimum temperature that you
indicated. When ambient temperatures are higher, the building will require
less (or no) energy to stay at that minimum temperature and so the stopping
of the system is in some ways, automatic.
If you are defining HVAC equipment models and an actual system to heat
and cool the building, then in some cases you need a model to deactivate
the heating (and perhaps cooling) systems. Such models exist in the TESS
Applications library, or you can use Type14 (a generic forcing function) to
define multipliers that tell you which hours of the year heating is allowed
(heating multiplier set to 1) and which hours of the year heating is not
allowed (heating multiplier set to 0). These multipliers are then combined
with the signal from your thermostat (whether you are using Type2 or
another controller model to switch your equipment).
Kind regards,
David
