Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update. It contains:

(1) a report of a survey study conducted in June by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which found that 25.5 percent of millennials, 31 percent of unpaid caregivers of adults, and 22 percent of "essential workers" have contemplated suicide during the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC has some recommendations on how to address the heightened levels of suicidal ideation among these populations.

(2) a study in two Scandinavian countries to determine which antipsychotic works best in keeping the rate of suicide low among patients with schizophrenia. Answer: it is Clozapine.

(3) this week's Crisis Now Crisis Talk column from the creators of the Crisis Now model on the challenges that model will face when the 9-8-8 call line is implemented in two years.

(4) notices of new webinars from the Network for Public Health Law, The Partnership Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives, the National Center for Complex Health and Social Needs, and SAMHSA's GAINS Center.

(5) a full page of COVID-19-related links of interest for your reading.

Have a Good Weekend and Stay Well ---
