Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update, containing:
(1) an update on current Congressional negotiations on a fourth COVID-19 rescue package;
(2) details on a letter sent to state directors of mental health and substance use disorder treatment by SAMHSA Assistant Secretary Elinore McCance-Katz reminding the directors of the availability of statutory waivers based on financial crisis to Block Grant Maintenance of Effort (MOE) requirements;
(3) information on a new $2 million California initiative taking a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention;
(4) a Crisis Now Crisis Talk column on the potential for the planned 9-8-8 suicide prevention and mental health crisis lifeline to effectively address emotional distress resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the public health measures imposed to address spread of the virus; and
(5) a new Uniformed Services University issue brief on helping teens manage COVID-19 pandemic challenges.
