Attached is this week's NASMHPD Weekly Update, containing:
(1) details on the legislation--the Paycheck Protection Program and
Health Care Enhancement Act--due to be passed by the House later this
afternoon and headed to the President for his signature that will
provide $75 billion to health care providers for expenses and lost
revenues attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic;
(2) a commemoration of the life of former Connecticut Commissioner Tom
A. Kirk, Jr., Ph.D., who died April 9 at the age of 78, just nine days
after his wife's death;
(3) information on a published study that has found that risk factors
for attempted suicide vary by age;
(4) this week's Crisis Now Crisis Talk blog on Major Sam Cochran
(Ret.), Co-Chair of CIT International’s Board of Directors, who says to
leaders, “Support and Keep Open Essential Mental Health Crisis
Services”; and
(5) continuing updates to our Federal agency compliance resource links
for providers, Medicaid administrators, and SMHAs, as well as updates to
the links to § 1135 waivers, § 1915(c) Appendix K Medicaid waivers, and
Medicaid State Plan Amendments addressing testing and treatment for
COVID-19 services.
