Learn Data Visualization - Telling Your Own Story

Project StaSIO

This is a pre-conference course for the 2019 ASHRAE Building Performance
Analysis Conference
<https://www.ashrae.org/conferences/topical-conferences/2019-ashrae-building-performance-analysis-conference>,
held September 25- 27, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. It will feature members of
the *Project StaSIO team <https://projectstasio.com/>*.

For energy analysts, one of the most difficult challenges is condensing a
great deal of data into an intelligible format so architects can understand
it. Architects are looking to simulation professionals to help them make
early design decisions that align with energy, cost, and design goals.

This 4-hour workshop is taught by three people who helped create Project
StaSIO <https://projectstasio.com/>: Alejandra Menchaca
<https://www.linkedin.com/in/alejandramenchaca/>, a Building Scientist, Kjell
Anderson
<https://www.linkedin.com/in/kjell-anderson-aia-csba-leed-fellow-aa5a7010/>,
an Architect and Aman Singhvi <https://www.linkedin.com/in/amansinghvi/>,
High Performance Design Specialist. Starting with graphics theory,
Alejandra, Kjell, and Aman will take participants through pragmatic steps
to improve communication as well as common mistakes simulation
professionals make in creating reports for Architects. They will focus on
helping attendees find the right data to communicate and then present it
simply and compellingly. A final exercise will ask participants to create a
graphic using techniques covered in the workshop.

The workshop will only use freely/commonly available software tools such as
Excel. No experience in creating advanced graphics is necessary.
