The easiest path in shifting between 2.2 and 2.3 is to reset occupancy to default.

If you have custom occupancy values, a spreadsheet can be used to store them and then paste them back in.

John - the missing zones most likely relate to it getting hung up on the expected parentheses. On Aug 10, 2023, at 11:22 PM, John Aulbach via Equest-users <equest-users at lists.onebuilding.org> wrote:
   Hi Pramod:
In tinkering with your file in DOE-2.2, I basically got it to run. Said that the people schedule was missing.
Flipped it to DOE-2.3, and it said zones were missing.
Here is the DOE-2.3 file. Why are you using 2.3, unless you have VRF. DOE-2.2 Build 7165 works just fine.

      Hello Pramad:
In general, you can stay out of trouble if you approach the simulation in "steps". I try to teach this to my students who use DOE-2.1e (yes, I'm still teaching the BDL after 35 years, and include barefoot tools for post-processing the output such at GAWK, RP1093 and RP1050), as well as DOE-2.2 (though I'm still not fluent with the DOE-2.2 BDL).
For example, start with an input file (one of the SAMP files will do that come with the package), then create your new building by stepping into the new file, one or two changes at a time, running it between steps to make sure it has not crashed. Also, during this stepping process make sure to turn on all outputs so you can see what's happening as the problem may be caused by some unrelated issue.
Even with this, I still have plenty of trouble simulating something new, especially when the student is doing something new or different, for example simulating an atrium building with measured 1-minute floor-to-floor temperatures taken with a fishing pole and a string of Hobos, or combining CFD with DOE-2, not a pretty process.
Unfortunately, from the error that you showed it would seem that you have a deep problem that may indicate that part of the BDL is corrupt or missing. For example, did you edit the BDL manually (very dangerous) and then resubmit, or did you stay inside the Wizard?

Hi All,

I am modeling a nonresidential building using eQuest 3.65, DOE 2.3. The model is still in preliminary stage and most of the data are auto-sized/default. I tried to simulate the model and I am getting this error, “Abnormal simulation results detected.” Please see the attached image for full error message. It is directing me to send input and weather file to program developers.

I have used fan powered series VAVs for some zones along with AHUs for the remaining spaces. The OA is supplied by DOAS. I tired changing the fan schedule to ON/OFF type as described in the forum but couldn’t resolve the issue. Someone please advice on how to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Pramod
