[Equest-users] eQuest T-24 Compliance with DOE 2.3 - huge files

Welllllll shoot. I guess I should have read into title 24 before starting this. I made the assumption that eQuest would qualify since there is a compliance rule set specifically for it. Lesson learned.

On a lighter note – I was able to get the file size down to 4.9 MB.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Tom,
If the eQUEST model files are getting huge, the standard advice is to delete the extra files per the post from Calvin below.

Hi Christopher,

I've had this happen on occasion when I repeatedly load and reload the same model for some reason or another (e.g. manually editing the INP or PRD files and reopening the model to see the changes within eQuest). The file sizes seem to max out at 4.5 GB. I find the solution is to delete both large PDL files (projectname.PDL and ~reinitializ.PDL) and then reopen the model. If that doesn't work, try deleting everything but the .PD2, .INP, and .PRD files.

Kind regards,
Calvin

And I believe projects permitting after January 1 are subject to the 2019 Standards. The only currently available 2019 Non-Residential package that I have found is http://bees.archenergy.com/software2019.html . If others know better, please share.

Sorry to say that eQUEST is not currently a certified program for Title 24 compliance. You will need to use one of the programs listed on this page: https://ww2.energy.ca.gov/title24/2016standards/2016_computer_prog_list.html.

I'm not aware of a way to convert your eQUEST file for use in one of the certified programs, but perhaps others know of a way you can save some time.

Hello all,

This is my first project dealing with a building in California. This is a complete office renovation that needs to be compliant with title 24. I started the project in version 3.65 build 7175 with DOE 2.3. I have a good portion of the building complete in detailed mode. The model freezes and closes every time I go to the project data tab in project properties and click CEC Title 24, August 2009 V1 from the dropdown of energy code compliance. Is there a way to run the compliance in DOE 2.3? I made a quick building in version DOE 2.2 to check and it worked fine. Do I need to convert the existing model to 2.2 to work? If so, how? I tried copying and pasting the INP file of 2.3 to 2.2 and it crashes too.

Is there an easy way around this or do I need to start from scratch? I already have about 40 hours into this model so I’m trying not to resort to this, but I keep running into road blocks with every attempt.

Also, I just tried to run the simulation and it took about four hours to get to 98% and then froze the computer. The file size is 61.7 gig…. The building isn’t very large so I have no clue how the file got so large.

Sorry for sending this a third time, but I’ve not got an answer. Is there another forum and/or website that I could post this question on that would be more appropriate?

Thanks in advance,

Tom
