[Equest-users] HEAT SOURCE and ZONE HEAT SOURCE for Dual Heating

Hi all

I had a query on how to actually model dual-heating system using eQUEST
“HEAT SOURCE” and “ZONE HEAT SOURCE” option

In my Case, RTU has gas furnace heating and it is used to preheat the air,
this preheated air is sent through the ducts and further this air is
reheated by Coils inside the zonal VAV Boxes before sending it to the
zones. *According to me this implies that my major consumption should be by
gas furnace which is the HEAT SOURCE as it is the one who actually heats
the outside air*. Correct me if I am wrong.

In my model, I set FURNACE as “HEAT SOURCE” and Electric as “ZONE HEAT
SOURCE”.

But from result output I observed that ZONE HEAT SOURCE has more
consumption than the HEAT SOURCE (Electric space heating consumption more
than Gas space heating). This contradicts the statement I made before.

It seems that eQUEST always takes ZONE HEAT SOURCE as major source of
heating.

Does anyone have insights on what should be done in this case and correctly
model this type of system.

Warm regards,

Tejas
